There is a very true saying when you learn to love yourself you can then love other people.
How many times have you heard that, how many times have you said oh yeh I know that!!!
How many people do you come across who truly embody that and emulate that sense of presence confidence and in the same way warmth and openness.
You may feel physically attracted to that person and think “I really fancy that person” but then look at them again and say not sure why, as their not my type at all.
It is often nothing to do with an individual’s physical appearance that attracts us to them. We are more attracted to their presence, their way of being, their sense of being at one with themselves, their inner confidence. How attractive is that?
How many women would not want to be that woman that both men and women look at and say, wow she has powerful presence about her?
If only we were taught self-worth at school and how to take care of our mental well-being as well as our physical well-being. How to recognise it is acceptable, NO……… not acceptable it is great to say, I am good at that……..
The government are finally and in turn as are schools, recognising that are mental and physical well-being are all inter-linked. If we learn how to take care of ourselves mentally nutritionally and physically then we learn to value ourselves and in turn love ourselves.
What message are we giving to ourselves if we always put other people before ourselves?
My clients will often say well “I’m not a selfish person, I like to help other people” and I will say “Well that’s wonderful, but what about helping you? If you don’t nurture yourself, then you will not have the capacity to give to others.
In answer, the message we are giving to ourselves is “You are not that important, you can wait………”
Well our bodies and minds will only wait for so long and then they will start giving us very strong message that they do not like how we are treating them. That is when we experience physical and mental illnesses.
